One of the many wonderful things I've discovered about being a mom is having the opportunity to share books with L that I've loved for years. Her being so new to the planet and all, all books - even the really ancient ones - are brand new treasures to discover. Lately we've been reading (and reading and reading) Margaret Wise Brown's Big Red Barn. Simple and sweet rhyming text flows through page after page of Felicia Bond's lovely and inviting illustrations.
By the big red barn,
In a great green field,
There was a pink pig
Who was learning to squeal.
So begins this endearing romp on the farm, which I don't even mind reading when L asks me for the 17th time that day.
I remember reading this book to one of my younger sisters - so lovely!
