Books We Love: Fairly Fairy Tales

When it comes to sharing stories with toddlers, fairy tales might not be the first thing that pops into your mind (they are long, somewhat violent, and arguably scary). But this delightful picture books from Esme Raji Codell (a personal hero of mine) is the perfect collection of fairy tales for the youngest of listeners.

Being just a wee toddie, L doesn't really get the references to well known fairy tales that fill these pages, but this book is a great place to start. The sparse text lends itself magnificently to really engaging and discussing the illustrations. And speaking of illustrations, there's so much going on in Elisa Chavarri's gorgeous artwork that you'll never lack of things to point out and talk about with your kiddo!
